Boys and Girls Club
Helping young people understand their environment and develop an appreciation for the outdoors builds the next generation of ecosystem caregivers. To create interest and knowledge among younger generation, RISE, as part of the Debug the Myths program, teams up with the local Boys & Girls Club to help members learn about the delicate balance of the ecosystem and the impact of insects and invasive weeds on that balance.
Kids and staff participate in activities including beautification efforts with plants and flowers for a hands-on experience with plant health and give the club’s outdoor space a fresh look. These activities give club members the opportunity to learn more about maintaining outdoor spaces and the relationship between native and invasive species.
Activities developed for Boys and Girls Club programs are available for any child to learn more about the ecosystem. Download lesson plans, coloring pages, word finds and other activities in our resources section.
